21/10/05 - Liberals Booted Out In Youth Vote - Again!

For the third year in succession the Liberals have been eliminated from the 'I am a Councillor...' competition open to local schools in the first round!  To make matters worse, Cllr Pajak failed to attract a single vote!

Each year, 5 local Councillors are put before local school children, who are able to ask questions, and then on a daily basis eliminate one Councillor.

The previous two winners have been Cllr Justin Tomlinson (Conservative) and Cllr Chris Van Roon (Conservative)

The winner of this years competition will be announced tonight.  (Further details will be posted shortly)

Cllr Justin Tomlinson, North Swindon Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman, "You really thought it could not get any worse for Charlie's 'merry' bunch of hapless Liberals in Swindon, but now even the local school children are refusing to vote for them!"

Things have been going from bad to worse, to disasterous for the local Liberals...

• They have now lost so many Cllrs through defections and in recent elections, it is rumoured their group meetings are held in phone box!
• At the last set of local elections in North Swindon they came last in every single seat.
• At the General Election, they were thrashed in both North & South Swindon despite claiming they could win.
• This is the third year they have come last in, 'I am a Councillor...'
• They have had to chop and change their group leader 3 times in 3 years as their group has imploded, no mean feat when you only have 5 Cllrs!
• All 3 recent group leaders are expected to not be re-elected in the 2006 local elections!
• Charlie Kennedy is still leader!

The liberals, 'spend, spend, spend' policies in Swindon
have been firmly rejected by local residents.
