17/08/05 - Let Down By Labour, The Sun

Grim outlook

THE storm clouds are gathering for the government.

Our Prime Minister goes on holiday vowing he will make sure ranting Muslim madmen are brought to justice.

As he sunbathes, lawyers for the CPS announce they will NOT charge fanatic Abdul Muhid with incitement.

Muhid was heard screaming for British servicemen to be slaughtered. Yet this creature will now remain free to carry on his sick activities.

So much for your tough clampdown, Mr Blair.

But why should we be surprised? Yet again the government relies more on spin than substance.

Look at health. The respected head of the Royal College of Surgeons says the NHS cannot carry on without reform.

From Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt comes barely a peep.

Look at education. A-levels have become a farce, and business leaders voice alarm at the plunging numbers of students taking serious subjects.

From Education Secretary Ruth Kelly we hear not a word.

Look at crime. Our streets are awash with drunks and yobs.

From Home Secretary Charles Clarke come longer pub hours and the all-clear for drunks to carry on bingeing.

And so it goes on.

Meanwhile, inflation is climbing again, more tax rises are likely, our pensions are in crisis and the tax credit system is a national scandal.

We hope your lounger is comfy, Mr Blair.

You will be returning to a bed of nails.
