Labour Party Membership Is Now At A 70 Year Low
Following the recent resignations from both the failing Labour and Liberal groups, a fourth group has been created.
Independent Councillors, Sinead Darker (Central Ward, ex-Labour), David Wren (Dorcan Ward, ex-Labour) and Geraldine Frost (Freshbrook & Grange Park, ex-Liberal) have formed an independent group. Cllr David Wren will act as the group leader.
The fourth recent resignation was Cllr Michael Dickenson (Central Ward) who resigned from the Liberals to join the Conservatives.
The Conservatives took control of Swindon Borough Council with an overall majority in 2003, and have increased their majority since then.
