MEP condemns funding for EU Constitution campaign

Following this weeks decision by the Budgets Committee of the European Parliament to make 8 million available of taxpayer's money to promote the EU Constitution,
Neil Parish, South West Conservative MEP, said:
"The decision to use over 8 million of taxpayer's money to promote the 'benefits' of the EU Constitution is disgraceful. No one believes that this funding is going to be used to explain the detail of the European Constitution in an objective way; I fear that it will be a propaganda exercise advocating only the pro-Constitution view.
"Conservative MEPs voted against this funding in Committee today for the very reason that we do not believe the campaign will be anything other than biased and incomplete."
