Crisis hit, Swindon Lib Dems are in meltdown...
Following a collapse of support in the June 04 elections, and the resignation of their leading Cllr Michael Dickinson last year, surely things could not get any worse?...
However a second Lib Dem Cllr has just resigned, leaving the Lib Dems with only 5 Councillors.
Cllr Geraldine Frost the popular and hard working community Councillor for Freshbrook & Grange Park has resigned from the Lib Dems today. Geraldine was first elected in 2000, and was re-elected with a good majority in 2003.
Cllr Michael Dickinson, who resigned late last year, then joined the Conservative Group, and has since become a key figure for the Conservatives. At present Geraldine is an Indepenent Cllr.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, North Swindon Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, "Geraldine is an extremely hard working local ward Councillor, and her loss is not only a major blow for the Lib Dems, but also raises serious questions of the Swindon Lib Dems. Their opportunist policies have lead to a disaterous June 04 election results (last in every single seat in North Swindon), and now 2 Councillors resigning."
"It is time the Lib Dems looked at how the Conservatives are prepared to roll up their sleeves and help offer a real alternative to Labour. We are the only Party in Swindon who are trying to drive down Council Tax, and by cutting endless waste from the Council, finding additional money for improving front line services. This is because we are listening to local residents, and that is the key to why our Group took control of Swindon Council in 2004."

Cllr Mike Dickinson welcomed to the Party by Rob Buckland,
South Swindon Conservative Parliamentary Candidate
