COV & NYT - Skateboard Park

Labour Ignore Residents - Skateboard Park

In May 2000, residents overwhelmingly voted against Labour's plans for a skateboard park to be built adjacent to local housing.

This decision was correct.  It would be unacceptable to build such a facility so close to local housing.

Despite this clear message from local residents, Labour have continued to press for this scheme to be built.

The Labour Parish Council have tried to defy this clear public vote.  Despite a 300 vote majority, they refused to accept the result.  As ever, Labour think they know best.

The Labour Parish Council has even bought the equipment, so it is clear that Labour wish to build the skateboard park here.

The Conservatives, and Conservative candidate Glenn Smith are opposed to such a move.

A Conservative Council would build a skateboard park at The Link Centre.

* Away from local housing.
* Adjacent to existing leisure facilities.
* Trained leisure staff (health & safety and first aid staff) within close proximity.
* Connected to public transport networks.

We have a Labour Council and a Labour Parish Council.  As ever Labour's left hand is not speaking to its right hand.

We are delighted that a Labour Councillor and the Labour candidate support our fight against Labour's plans.  (We have posted membership forms 1st class!)

Hopefully they will also join us in our fight against Labour over:

Labour's Council Tax hike of 32% in just 2 years.
Labour's endless waste and mismanagement.
The Labour Council now being rated amongst the worst 13 in the UK.
The Labour Council education failure.
The Labour Council social services failure.

Jill and Dave Hurley, local campaigners against the skateboard park at Greenbridge said, "We have been extremely impressed with Glenn Smiths determination to protect our local environment and defend our peace and quiet.  He is committed to do all in his power to prevent the skateboard park being built adjacent to resident housing.  It is only the Conservatives who have made plans to build a skateboard park away from our local housing, whilst Labour continue to buy the equipment."
